Military Mechanical Engineering

The purpose of the Doctoral Study Programme Military Mechanical Engineering is to train students, primarily officers of the Serbian Armed Forces, to independently solve scientific research problems of design, development, operation, maintenance and testing of complex machine systems of weapons and military equipment, development of system for management and control of complex machine systems, and problems of development of methods and techniques for their maintenance during exploitation in the execution of missions and tasks of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The goal of the study programme is to educate top experts in the field of mechanical engineering, capable of scientific research and leading complex scientific research and large professional projects focusing on the needs of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and whose work should contribute to the development of mechanical engineering as a scientific discipline and the overall development of science.
The implementation of the study programme contributes to the development of science and critical thinking, the recognition of domestic scientific research at the world level and the education of staff trained to independently conduct authentic and scientifically relevant research in the field of mechanical engineering. Upon completion of their studies, students are qualified to develop new techniques and methods in the field of mechanical engineering, contributing to general development of the defence system and society as a whole.
The ultimate goal of doctoral studies is to create research potential that will be able to respond to global challenges and threats. PhDs in the field of mechanical engineering will be qualified to solve complex research, analytical and technological problems related to the application of modern materials, computer tools and techniques for design, development, operation, maintenance and testing of mechanical components of weapons and military equipment, using modern propulsion fuels, optical and optoelectronic systems, modern data processing techniques and the integration of complex systems of weapons and military equipment, in order to improve their efficiency and performance.
