Minister Vulin: Our helicopter pilots will learn everything they need to know at the Military Academy

- After 22 years we have changed the curriculum at the Aviation Department of the Military Academy. Thus, our helicopter pilots will no longer have to undergo special re-training, but will learn everything they need to know at the Military Academy, and as soon as they graduate, they can become aircraft crew members – emphasized the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, who visited the 204th Air Brigade and attended the training of the Military Academy cadets on HT-49 aircraft in the 890th Mixed Helicopter Squadron and the training of cadets in the 252nd Training Squadron.

According to him, in this way, besides acquiring knowledge more quickly, they have the opportunity for faster career advancement, so they will become commanders of their helicopters much faster, just like the generations before them did.

- We have changed the curriculum, the way of schooling, we have changed the aircraft, we have done everything for these young people to be happy for having chosen this profession – Minister Vulin said.

One of the cadets in training at the Batajnica airport is a fifth-year cadet of the Military Academy, Aleksandar Dimovski, who points out that this training is specific because in the previous two decades, cadets did not undergo training for this type of helicopter.

- We are the first generation after 20 years. The training is very interesting because I have always wanted to fly a transport helicopter and for me, this is sort of dream come true – cadet Dimovski said.
A cadet from the same class, Stefan Grbić, talked about the training of the 141st class of cadets who attend the Military Aviation program of study, i.e. the instrument flight training of aircraft pilots.

- We are flying on a V54 Lasta aircraft which is extremely good. It is equipped with the Garmin G500 device, which makes the instrument flight training easier. Also, the training is interesting, but it demands great concentration during the flight, especially during the landing approach, and after we complete the instrument flight training, we will have night flight training - cadet Grbić pointed out.
