The study programme Land Forces

The study programme Land Forces arises from the needs of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia in the field of education of officers of the branches and services of the Serbian Armed Forces. The goal of this study programme is the acquisition of academic knowledge and skills and the achievement of competencies necessary for the performance of initial officer duties in the branch, in accordance with the missions and tasks of the Serbian Armed Forces.
 
Undergraduate studies of the Land Forces are conducted over four years (eight semesters). The total number of ECTS that a cadet needs to achieve in order to complete this level of studies is 240.
 
The study plan includes compulsory and elective courses.
 
Compulsory courses cover those areas that provide the knowledge necessary for the modern profile of a professional officer. These are subjects from military sciences, security sciences, social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and mathematics and technological sciences. According to its structure, in accordance with the Rulebook on the list of professional, academic and scientific titles, it belongs to the field of social sciences and humanities in the field of Military Science.
 
In addition to the obligatory courses, the cadet chooses a certain number of (elective) courses in the study programme, to the extent necessary to provide the required number of ECTS credits.
 
The first two years of training are identical for all cadets, and after that they opt for one of the five areas – modules. These are: Infantry, Armoured Units, Artillery, Engineering and River Units.
 
Subjects within modules are defined on the basis of work profiles, i.e. job requirements and duties of officers for certain branches in the Serbian Armed Forces.
 
A cadet obtains a diploma of an officer if he/she fulfills all the obligations prescribed by the study programme within the stipulated deadline and thus achieves 240 ECTS.                      
 
In addition to the diploma, the cadet is also issued a Diploma Supplement which indicates the competencies of the cadet for a professional officer in a certain branch of the Serbian Armed Forces.
