Defence Logistics



The study programme Defence Logistics arises from the needs of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia for the education of logistics service officers to work in the defence system.
The purpose of the study programme Defence Logistics is to train cadets for professional logistics officer in the Serbian Armed Forces, i.e. students for the positions of a BSc in logistics engineering in the civilian.
The goal of the study programme Defence Logistics is to acquire competencies and academic knowledge and skills in several scientific fields, it has the nature of IMT (interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary) studies, with a focus on scientific fields in the area of technological sciences and social sciences and humanities.
Under studies of the study programme Defence Logistics are performed during four academic years (eight semesters). The total number of ECTS that a cadet or student needs to achieve in order to complete this level is 240.
The structure of the study programme consists of compulsory and elective courses, professional practice and final paper. Compulsory subjects of the programme include those areas that are necessary for understanding the basic theoretical settings and knowledge systems on which the profile of a modern professional logistics officer is based, such as subjects in natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences and humanities, defence sciences, certain areas of technological sciences (depending on the specific module).
In addition to the obligatory courses, the cadet – student chooses a certain number of elective courses in the study programme, to the extent necessary to provide the required number of ECTS credits.  
The first two years of training are identical for all cadets and students, and after that they opt for one of the four elective modules – areas, which are: general logistics, traffic and transport, supply and maintenance.
Compulsory and elective courses are defined on the basis of job profiles, i.e. job requirements – duties of logistics officers in the Serbian Armed Forces and on the basis of dominant identified problems that occur in the field of management, organization and technology of operation in logistics systems.
A cadet – student acquires the title of a BSc in logistics engineering if he/she fulfills all the obligations prescribed by the study programme within the stipulated deadline and thus achieves 240 ECTS.                      
In addition to the diploma, the cadet – student is also issued a Diploma Supplement which indicates the competencies of the cadet for a professional officer in a certain service of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as for a BSc in logistics engineering.
