Major General Bojan ZRNIĆ, Ph.D.
Major General Zrnic was born in 1969 in Banja Luka. He finished the military high school in Belgrade in 1987 as the best in his class. After graduation on Military Technical Academy in 1992, as the best in his class, with B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering, he has been promoted in lieutenant rank and appointed on various duties related to maintenance of the complex combat systems. From 1996, he worked at the Military Technical Academy as a lecturer in radar field and subsequently as a Head of Radar Department. He received M.Sc. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1998 and 2001 from Belgrade University and Military Technical Academy, respectively. In 2003 he graduated in Marshal Centre (Germany) on "Leaders for 21 Century" course.
From 2005, he was the Head of the Section in Strategic Planning Department, Serbian MOD in charge for preparation of the first Serbian Strategic Defence Review. Following graduation on Royal College of Defence Studies, London (UK) in 2007, he was appointed as a Deputy Head, Department for Planning and Development (J-5), GS SAF. In 2010 he has been appointed as a Head of Defence Technology Department in Serbian MOD and subsequently has been promoted to Brigadier General rank in 2011. In 2012 he took part on "International Armament Programme Management" course on the IHEDN, Paris (France). He was promoted to Major General rank in April 2014. From July 2014 to Dec 2015 he was acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Material Resources. As a Head of Defence Technology Department till September 2018, he was in charge of R&D and armament acquisition programs and coordination of Serbian defence industry. He was deputy National Armament Director and liaison officer with European Defence Agency, too.
MG Zrnic has significant experience of higher education teaching and has been working as an associate professor at Serbian Military Academy on the radar and defence acquisition subjects. He is contributing author in more than 70 papers in radar and sensors field that were published in national and international conference proceedings and journals. He is currently head of Defence University Council for Technical Science and chief of Editorial Board of Military Technical Courier, a leading national scientific journal in defence technology field.
He is married and has two children.
